Speaker profile

Growing up surrounded by Lego, John has always been passionate about engineering and space.

After completing a Technician Apprenticeship in 2002, John travelled all over the globe as a technical officer for the MoD specialising in secure communications. Joining Airbus as an electrical engineer in 2010, he combined his passion for engineering and space, and as a STEM Ambassador added a passion for developing people. Following this passion, John joined the Airbus Defence and Space Engineering Academy, where he was responsible for future skill and competence roadmapping, and subsequently, in 2024, took the newly created role as Head of Outreach and STEM Engagement. As a long-term member of the Space Skills Advisory Panel, John is committed to developing new opportunities for people to join the space industry, through collaboration and cooperation with key stakeholders. In 2019 John was nominated for the Women in Defence award for STEM in Defence for his work towards attracting more women into engineering.
