Space is one of the most attractive and innovative economies in the world, and the UK has set clear intentions to become world-leading in this arena. The UK space sector already employs over 45,000 individuals and is worth over £16.4 billion per year. DSIT also acknowledges the future opportunities of an industry projected to be worth £490 billion by 2030. To drive progress, the UK space ecosystem must collaborate from SMEs right through to Primes and reduce the barriers often associated with smaller companies attaining defence contracts. Only by tapping into innovation across the entire ecosystem will the UK gain an advantage. In his keynote, Doug Liddle will explore how the industry can better collaborate, encourage supply chain growth, and drive the development of innovative capabilities to fulfil the aspirations of the UK Space Strategy.
